Peter Block, author of several best-selling books, is a highly acclaimed and recognized expert in existing community building. His work exhibits a significant focus on empowering, enhancing, reconciling, and promoting accountability in community. The 2019 Bridges and Pathways annual reading selection, Community: The Structure of Belonging, is focused not on the mere criteria needed in order to produce a thriving community. Instead, Peter Block’s approach in this book is to encourage the development of a new way of processing and understanding the idea of community.

The Bridges and Pathways College Alliance is a consortium of Beaver Valley institutions of higher education dedicated to improving the lives of Beaver Valley residents through access to education, cultural events, and economic opportunities. This historic alliance is a response to the Beaver Valley’s rapidly changing economic identity and the institutions’ collective vision to serve the educational, workforce development, and quality of life needs of residents and businesses in the area. As new industry and prospects for growth take root in the valley, the alliance is poised to fulfill the increased postsecondary needs of the region.
